Introducing the world's first underwater coastal erosion monitoring System
ASTEC project is a £611,000 research project supported by the UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB). It began in August 2008 and will conclude in January 2010. The project will deploy a novel marine wireless sensor network on the seabed to enable the gathering of data and to consequently quantify the effects of coastal erosion beneath the sea surface. This will be the world's first such system for monitoring and forecasting the effects of coastal erosion.
The project partners are:
Wireless Fibre Systems Ltd (WFS), UK
School of Applied Computing at Swansea Metropolitan University, UK
School of Built and Natural Environment at Swansea Metropolitan University, UK
Valeport Ltd, UK
